Given that they have power lines running to these homes (I would assume), I’m wondering if running Ethernet would have been possible. From the sheep story, they’re already running some pretty long cables. Why not connect the houses and skip the wireless entirely?
Ethernet cables (e.g. cat5 or cat6) have a max length of 100m.
Community fiber is pretty popular these days, though. And tedu may have meant Ethernet the protocol, not Ethernet the cable.
They need VoIP to get rid of CenturyLink altogether. That should be a thing that happens.
