I’m really surprised it took so long for something like this to happen. As it happens, I end up writing most of my rich text in markdown (or org-mode), export it to HTML, copy and paste from a browser, and paste into a rich text editor (often it’s work related so Google Docs). This works pretty well, surprisingly, assuming I unfill the region first, but it’s not great. I suppose I should just make use of pandoc or some other tool which can go from markdown -> .doc, .rtf or whatever other format is required.
Taking notes in markdown (or org-mode which is now supported for input) and piping through pandoc has proven to be really useful and convenient — I’d urge you to give it a shot.

I have to use LibreOffice occasionally to edit/view other people’s Word docs, so I think this is going to come in handy.
Is there anything along these lines for google docs? That’d be amazing.
