Update: I’ve heard reports that OS X 10.8.4 now has an updated version of OpenSSH [that supports ECDSA keys], but I have not been able to confirm this.
Actually, the native version of ssh in 10.8.4 that does not support ec keys, even though the main page says it does. You can compile ssh with homebrew to get support though. see here
