    Why not put the swap partition on an LVM logical volume?

      that was my thought as well. if you use a swap file that sits on an encrypted filesystem or partition, then you get encryption (at rest…) for free. or if having a dedicated file isn’t your thing, you could set up zswap and have it reside in RAM with compression so it (theoretically) goes away on poweroff/reboot.
