SwiftUI looks really promising and seems to be a whole universe away from the trash fire that is AppKit.
There’s been a lot of modernisation in UIKit, as used on iPhones and iPads, but much of that modernisation hasn’t made it back into AppKit as you see on macOS – you’ll probably know this if you’ve ever had the unpleasant experience of trying to build anything using an NSTableView. I hope that SwiftUI brings that modernisation more uniformly across the ecosystem.
Really excited by this. Looks like it takes the ideas of React and uses them in a native context.
Makes sense for Apple; Electron is a big existential threat to their platforms.
Supposedly inspired by both Elm’s TEA and React https://twitter.com/jckarter/status/1135666944273571840?s=20
Maybe I’ll finally be able to develop the watch app I wanted to track something really important to me. That’d be nice.
