For years my #1 reason for logging into Wikipedia was so that I’d have this feature active while it was still in beta. It’s one of those tiny things you never want to give up once you’re used to it, and I’m so excited it’s shipping to everyone. Congrats to the team <3
I never had any trouble with the beta, which seemed to just default to the first paragraph of text & first image. (But, also, I remember using the preview feature before this article makes it out to have begun, back in 2007 or 2008 – so maybe what I’m using is a completely different preview feature that the people working on this were unaware of?)
In case anyone who worked on this is reading here: oh my goodness this feature is incredibly slick, I am terrifically impressed. Very, very, very well done. ♥
