    Check out UDT for your next experiment. It’s a TCP replacement built on UDP in user-space. They used it in HPC applications to avoid TCP’s slow-downs. Source is BSD now. Used to be LGPL. You might also make waves implementing an obscure, but useful, tech.

        UDT can replace a lot of stuff, including FTP. Another you might like, though, was Tsunami that replaced FTP going as fast as your medium will allow. When you see protocol, you’ll know why it lives up to its name.
