    Exciting for those of us that cant afford FPGA’s. What’s it cost for the cheapest one at what number of logic slices?

      I don’t know about EC2’s prices, but the iCE40 FPGA is only $40 or so, and it works with Cliff Wolf’s FOSS FPGA toolchain. I think the largest model (HX8K-CT256) has 7680 logic cells, which is admittedly very tiny.

        Im wanting at least a Spartan6 worth of them. Enought to simulate a MCU or MPU with extensions. That’s the low end of most FPGA development that would interest desktop or server users.

        EDIT: A FPGA developer on HN said the ones Amazon are buying cost between $30-50k a piece. So much for a cheap option…
