The article reminded me of Globulation 2 an open source game with so much potential that never quite got to the stage of realising it. It’s an RTS with the unique spin that you don’t give direct instructions to units, you set objectives and policies and they try to achieve them, which puts human and AI players on a more even footing. It seems to have been largely dead for the last 10 years, I’d love to see someone pick it up or reimplement it.
