It seems like just about everyone is on the same page about understanding the goal of Stack Overflow. That the community aspect of it is merely a cog in the machine that is meant to output quick answers for those using a search engine to find an answer.
Strangely enough, this author isn’t exactly disagreeing with others when they say that Stack Overflow is failing to live to their own standards and goals. The one main thing in dispute could be easily resolved:
Stackoverflow is not declining, it is serving its purpose quite well.
This is something I’ve heard back and forth that would be helped well by statistics. What are the page views to that website nowadays? Is it one of the top links people still click on when searching for programming answers?
