    Very interesting. I’ve thought for a while that the way that we teach programming is odd. You spend a lot more time reading code than you do writing it, yet programming courses are mostly focused around writing code. Imagine learning a human language by writing and speaking it and hardly ever reading or listening to it. I’ve seen a couple of courses that focus on reading (one for small children that put code up on slides and asked people to guess what it did: without much prompting they got concepts like if and while pretty quickly).
