    Two things struck me:

    • moving away from specialized ecosystems (Swift) so their team can generalize (JavaScript) and move between products and projects with less friction
    • basically the whole pitch for React Native over Swift was “we can hack and contribute to the tooling at all levels of the stack”; I suspect this will thrill some (people who want to build from first principles) and horrify others (people who just want to build stuff with Apple’s blessed tools)

    Overall, a very level-headed and honest-sounding look back.
