Assuming that the president signs it into law, SESTA/FOSTA is the most significant rollback to date of the protections for online speech in Section 230.

Craigslist has shut down the “Personals” section of their site.

US Congress just passed HR 1865, “FOSTA”, seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.

Any tool or service can be misused. We can’t take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.

To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!

Presumably, Tinder, OkCupid, Match.com, eHarmony, and all of the other online personals will follow suit. (Highly unlikely, of course, but impossible for them to ignore)

Companies need to stop obeying the edicts of these people who do not in any shape, way, or form represent them or their users.

Theirs is not law. No taxation without representation.

Are you claiming that Congress doesn’t represent the people who elected them?

If not, I’m confused about what you mean.

Are you claiming that Congress doesn’t represent the people who elected them?

I’m not claiming it, I’m stating a well-known obvious fact to anyone who has an inkling of familiarity with American politics.

Plus, math is on my side.

Oh, I totes agree that electing a few hundred people every few years to make the most important decisions for the country is a terrible idea. And I am a big supporter of liquid democracy.

But I don’t think that’s what “no taxation without representation” was getting at, hence the confusion.
