the beta release represents an accurate preview of what Rust 1.0 will include.

We don’t plan on making functional changes to stable content,
though naturally we may make minor corrections or additions to the
library APIs if shortcomings or problems are uncovered (but the bar
for such changes is relatively high).
This is the first release we’ve promised this kind of stability. The team and community has been doing an incredible amount of work lately to make this happen. We really hope you’ll like what we’ve been up to, but Rust isn’t for everyone, so no worries if it’s not for you. Constructive criticism always welcome. <3
As of today, my job gets harder: “things are always changing” is no longer an excuse for missing docs. The six weeks until release is largely about polish, and I have some pretty big plans…
This is really great! I’ve been working a bit more with Rust recently after having given up on it back around the 0.5 days. Really great to see it finished and – if I might say – it’s really come a long way. Congrats on the big beta, everyone!
Thanks for all the hard work! I’ve admired what you’ve done with Ruby/Rails for a while, and as someone looking to do a bit more low-level stuff, this looks to be an awesome place to get started.
Please post it here when you do - I’m sure I’m not the only one coming from a higher-level application programming background who’s interested in learning about what Rust has to offer. Congrats on all the hard work so far for the 1.0 release :-)

Thanks! I hope so too. I’m going to be writing some explicit “hey, new to systems?” documentation in the next few weeks.
