Feelings are legitimate, especially in the field of free software where direct financial remuneration is rare.
It really doesn’t matter if 99% of your users are happy and polite and communicate well. It’s enough that one or more jerks feel entitled and ruin the experience to turn someone off from maintaining something for free.
