I spent a couple of days digging into the backend APIs for the new bike share on campus. Wasn’t terribly impressed by what I found but here’s a write up of the issues that I let them know about.
Interesting read but entirely unsurprising. It seems to be a common trend that mobile app APIs give way more access than they should.
Nice work on the open source app replacement though. I wouldn’t mind using these share bikes but I would never install a proprietary app on my phone. (Can’t either. No google services)
