How often, do we as industry, discuss programming skill and how to develop it? It seems we put immense faith in languages/frameworks/libraries to make up for our own collective deficiencies in this area, and then act surprised when they just let us make bigger messes faster.
Framing the discussion around “business value” and “failing fast” denies us the ability to take pride in our work while still meeting objectives and determining market fit.
