      Isn’t it easier to just do the traditional way with KVM and just dd the installer (the ramdisk kernel), reboot into the installer (which then is in memory) and do a regular OpenBSD install? That’s how I tend to install my OpenBSD Hetzner, etc. servers, usually without any preparation needed, cause it’s unlikely one doesn’t have dd. Works for cloud and physical.

      I know it mentions it in the article, but this is a thing that’s requested and you get it within minutes.

      But always nice to have more options and also nice for installing other OSs where that might not be doable.

        If you have KVM access that is certainly simpler, but not having to wait for someone to go plug the KVM into the server seems like a very nice advantage.

        I’ve been using OpenBSD on Hetzner VMs for many years. Glad to know that works with physical hardware too.
