The Stevens book is what I learned from years ago. Great book. There’s a lot in it that we don’t care about any more, fortunately (goodbye, details of how to successfully daemonize a process on Irix vs SunOS).

I’ve been a life long Linux/Unix user, and I learned a great deal from this class. Very worthwhile.

One of my absolute favorite books. Reading W. Richard Stevens changed my life many years back.

I read the first edition around 20 years ago and it was great. My publisher sent me a free copy of the second edition a few years later and I skimmed it. It’s been sitting on the shelf for a while but I actually pulled it down and read a couple of chapters a few months back. It’s still a fantastic resource.
