I’ve known about the Spread Tookit for years now but never had any real use for it, until now. I find its design well thought and given that it’s been there for more than 10 years it seems pretty solid.

Ther are two things that worry me, though:

1. The claims about performance in the documentation are not very impressive (8,000 1Kbytes messages a second in local area network settings), but these numbers are probably outdated and seem to contradict another paper from ’04
2. These conflicting comments from an old HN thread

I’d like to hear about your experience with Spread, or with anything similar (ie. distributed, fault-tolerant, in-order message delivery).
