Certificate verification is essentially nonexistent for SMTP, so the NSA can fearlessly mitm your incoming and outgoing connections and siphon all your mail.
The NSA doesn’t have zero days for anything in this stack? ok…
Silk Road was also hosted in Iceland, and the FBI found and confiscated those servers easily enough.
It seems that Greenqloud has shut down their public cloud offerings and only provides infrastructure for others to build their public, private or hybrid clouds on top of them. There are other companies from Iceland that might provide rather costly VPS machines but I have not found any solid evidence that their service is worth the money.
Personally, I have been using Fastmail for the last 4 years as my email provider. They are based in Australia and access to their servers is a bit trickier for US-based companies. More important for me, the service has been running smoothly and I haven’t seen any hiccups.
