I think this is one of the games I beat on the SNES when I was young. All that magic was encoded in m68k asm? Wow. All the tunes are still stuck in my head today.
The SNES had a game called Aladdin, but I think it was made by a different shop and publisher.

At the time, I was aware of the Genesis version and assumed itwould be the same game. Many games appeared for both systems. Mystery solved :)
