    This is fascinating.

    I’d hoped it would have reference to a NEC mini-computer (I assume it was a mini - it was roughly the size of a portable dishwasher) that ran something called ASTR*X.

    I can’t find reference to either anywhere. It was an SVR 3.2 variant since the company I worked for (NCM a spin off of Racal InterLAN) sold a TCP/IP protocol coprocessor card and software suite for a variety of oddball operating systems, but mostly DOS and SVR3.2 variants (But also Coherent, VMS, ASTR*X and a host of others :)
