Hey everyone, this is a tool I’ve written for myself while I’m working on my PhD. I gave a talk on it at Indy.rs and finally got a blog post done. The short version is that I wrote a library and command line tool for simulating the polarization of a laser beam as it passes through different optical elements. I talk about my experiences doing a little bit of scientific computing in Rust, which crates I used, and where I think Rust stands in the scientific field at the moment.

I’ve worked on this on and off for about a year at this point. Now that I’ve made a blog post and publicly announced it, I declare this side project finished-ish and can officially justify spending time on other side projects :)
