“Bytebeat” refers to one-line programs, just an infinite loop that emits 8-bit ints, which sound somewhat musical when fed through a D-to-A converter. Unfortunately this synth does not have a C compiler in it so you can’t create new ones, but 40 algorithms with variations should be enough to have fun with.
PS: once again may I express my annoyance at the lack of a “music” tag, nor an “audio” tag that refers to digital audio and not simply “this post links to a podcast”?

I tried to get support for a
dsptag a while ago, or something similar, but it didn’t go anywhere. Maybe the time is ripe again?
