I also find it really hard to get motivated about email. Every piece of software in the email ecosystem is terrible or has gotten increasingly worse over the years except three: archiveopteryx for IMAP/storage, opensmtpd for MTA, and rspamd for spam filtering.
If I could get the Fastmail web interface on my own server and push integration with iOS I would be set. But it doesn’t exist, so I’ll continue to pay Fastmail.
