      While I think there’s a lot to like here, I think I’d like more research about the top end. For example, is the top end engineer just a plodder who has a few tries under their belt?

      I also wonder to what extent the senior one-way pairer can’t do things vs adding some value to the team in areas where they have the comparative advantage - for example doing the kinds of things tech leads and managers do, like attending meetings so that other engineers don’t have to, and clearly communicating back to the team, or vice versa clearly communicating to the business structures why things are hard and take as long as they take.
