It makes me wonder if they really had good legal representation through the five-year process that resulted in this partial summary judgement. Not that I’m sympathetic to ROSS, quite the contrary, but I think we can expect that other pending cases will be argued more vigorously from the defense side.
I normally think copyright is overly zealous, however, in the case of llms and theft of intellectual property, I’m glad to see this happened.

To pay their legal bills? Allegedly. But the article says they “shut down in 2021”. I doubt they had any customers, and their site, while still up, has this footer: “© ROSS Intelligence, Inc. 2014–2020”
