…and remember the pac-man rule when talking in the hallway: http://ericholscher.com/blog/2017/aug/2/pacman-rule-conferences/

That’s really neat. I haven’t ever thought about it that way. I think the default way my friends and I have done that in past is standing side by side so people can walk up to us directly. Thinking on it now, the Pacman setup might work better by letting them ease in instead of walking directly toward us. Bothers some people who are still worth having around. Might try it some time.

Yeah, I’d guess try whatever works - it may vary depending on whether it’s a local meetup with people you mostly know versus a larger conference. Learned about the pacman thing from Liz Marley who gave a lightning talk about it at seattle xcoders a while back.

Misuse of event tag–this isn’t about a particular event. Maybe practices would be a better fit here.

        Yup, probably. Thanks!

I find the correct answer is both. You get different sorts of questions, too. Both are very informative as to what’s actually concerning people.

Absolutely necessary: a moderator who can be the bad guy for you, who will cut off lightning-talks-from-the-floor. “A question is a single sentence that ends with a question mark.”
