Will this help OpenBSD as well?

Originating from NetBSD, the *BSD wireless stacks have diverged quite a bit at this point, both in design and implementation. FreeBSD can certainly serve as a design reference for OpenBSD wireless code. Copying code is possible, too, but not verbatim because of several differences in the core wireless data structures. Porting wifi drivers between systems takes a bit of effort for the same reasons.
