So imagine…

  • you have a budget of somewhere in the region of US$25 per person and…
  • a couple of hundred really smart people attending…
  • an open source / linux / internet of things conference for a week…

What would you buy, from some place like https://www.adafruit.com/ (or anywhere else), to maximize the fun?

We’re getting way way waaayyyy too serious about this whole computing thing and have forgotten that we got into it because it’s fun!

I’m thinking some sort of socially interactive game writ large.

I expect to have wifi and wall size projectors available too.

As a opener game imagine this…

Imagine if when you registered for a conference, along with your badge, you got a gadget with some buttons and leds.

Press a button…. Nothing happens. Nothing. Meh. Boring. Forget it.

But wait…. My led’s are flashing now. What are they saying? Hmm. They stopped. Let’s try push the buttons, again.

Nothing. Nothing. Wait! It’s flashing! But I didn’t push the button….. I wonder if someone else is controlling my leds?

But who? How can I find out ? How can I communicate with them?

ps: I’m sucking my thumb about the budget. It would depend on sponsors and lots of other things.

pps: All suggestions welcome.

ppps: There is no reason why everybody should get the same thing. It would encourage them to get together and join up the gadgets.
