Forgive me if this isn’t the same engine, but I recall reading a really nice writeup that was I think linked on lobste.rs about a similar game engine that did an isometric view with streaming of content and an interesting coordinate management system….The writeup went into a decent level of detail on the engine, and was a really enjoyable read.
Was that this engine (or its closed-source inspiration)? Either way, does anyone know what writeup that was? Some brief searching didn’t reveal anything for me…

If it was streaming and the coordinate system thing, it was probably the Dungeon Siege engine. Here and here may be relevant!

Not isometric at all, but I think my mental image of video games always gravitates back to Solstice for some reason…
