We seem to be moving towards a world where anyone with “skilz” will be expected and incentivized to go on the offensive as well as help with the defensive side of hacking.
If every citizen can be conscripted or can volunteer in any nebulously defined “war on X” or any cold or hot war on any other nation state, eventually no externally derived software will be trustworthy.
I think Ray Kurzweil talked about AI making war cheap and easy. I don’t think he thought through the way that might not turn out to be a good thing.

It blows my mind that there are individuals out there that are capable of taking down entire network infrastructures by means of simple exploits.
