I found it relatively easy to pick up OCaml after learning Standard ML first (I learned SML at university), and the overall feel of the languages is pretty similar. But if your goal is really to program in OCaml in the near future, I think starting via an SML tutorial might end up frustrating in the short term, because there are just enough miscellaneous differences to get bogged down in things that don’t quite work the same way in OCaml.
