Pipewire is very exciting and it’s magic. I started using it in F33 and it just works. Things that use pulseaudio interface just magically appear in qjackctl and guitarix+ardour recording has relatively low latency without adjusting any settings. (If I concentrate on it I hear it, but I hope it would practically disappear with RT kernel) And finally setups like multiple sound sources with different routing getting patched into zoom with one of them returning to monitor are doable.

This is likely going to be so much better than how the pulseaudio migration went.

That’s also one of the concerns people had which were countered by the developers that they learned from the PulseAudio migration mistakes.

Another thing to consider is that PipeWire is benefiting from years of ALSA bugs fixes that have arrived only because PulseAudio exposed those bugs (while taking the blame for said bugs).

Looking forward to even more custom things breaking in GNOME, which seems to be the most common hiccup I have upgrading Fedora versions.

Do you have any example? I have been on Fedora since 28 and, from memory, nothing ever broke after an upgrade (on 33 now). I tends to wait a month or two before upgrading so maybe that’s why.

I saw consistent crashes from an SDL app, but they went away when I switched back to X from wayland.

I enable the overview mode in GNOME Classic, and that usually breaks every release.

This is probably a good idea. My installations deteriorate after 2-3 upgrades, and I guess part of it is the frequent updating.

Usually my theme, in some unpredictable way, and at least one or two extensions.

I mean, you don’t go to fedora because you want stability
