    This is unrelated to the actual article content, but Helvetica Neue Thin is almost illegible at small font sizes, and I wish sites would stop using it. Something like Source Sans Pro at normal weight is a ton more legible (and available through Google Fonts).

    On topic: side-channel attacks are interesting, because they exist far outside of what many o us would normally consider when designing an algorithm. It becomes a case where a search for the most efficient solution (like good use of the cache) may actually open up an attack vector. It’s good to see work on issues like this. While Heartbleed was a serious problem, it is good to see what seems to be an increased interest in security in its wake (not suggesting that RedHat was specifically swayed to care more, they likely already cared. I am simply addressing a more generic increase in interest).
