I’ve been a fan of baobab for a few years, but others I forget the name of going back to the late 90s. As @peter says, this is well-explored design space.
I used to use http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/, and, well, du -h . | sort -h .

Flame graphs are hard to read, IMO, and there are already a lot of tools based on treemaps for visualizing disk space usage.
