Meh. It’s not hard to do better than Java. In Scala you could probably remove all the brackets (I’d have a go if the “code” was available in text rather than an image).
It looks like the blog post he linked in a reply has code as text.
I think it is a matter of personal taste. Perhaps because of a background in maths, I adore parens and other grouping characters. I like the spatial blocks they create and especially with an editor that does flashing and jumping, they are so handy for seeing scope.
Scheme, though, that is just going too far. ;P
