I miss the old PLATO system. I used to have an Author sign on in groups ohreward (Olive Harvey Community College, Reward group that also had games) and also in the wright2 group (Wright Community College). Both of these colleges were in Chicago and the classroom PLATO V / Plasma terminals were connected via Multiplexor to a T1 which ran to the Mainframe at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. When I attended school at Control Data Institute located at 5 S. Wabash on the 17th floor in Chicago, I was given a PLATO CDC system with a CDC-110 drive and a box of 8” floppies with code / classes on them. I was also able to get dial-up access to the CERL / NovaNet network. Ahh, those were the days.

I hope for nostalgia reasons that someone cleans up the terminal code for macs. Currently, I am unable to run a PLATO term on a mac running 12.4 Monterey. A message says the program needs to be updated. Maybe it’s not a 64 bit program, but I am unsure.

At any rate, it was nice walking down memory lane. Now to get to memory address 03F8.
