Thanks again for posting this follow up.
I watched the open source crypto talk, and my prior concerns were somewhat assuaged. The speaker discussed many pitfalls of building secure software and using crypto, which were accurate and good to remind any general but technical audience of.
The talk ended up not really being about open source crypto, and more about best practices in general. I just wish the title and conclusion of the talk were changed to reflect this and to dispel any notion that proprietary or homebrewed crypto is acceptible for production use.
