This is the context for the recently-posted “I would have hired Doug, but…” piece. I’m linking it because, while it may not be comforting to hear that the only way we as programmers will have jobs in our 50s is if we’re personally the most successful coders of our generation, and especially not comforting to hear that that’s unique to programming, if it’s true it’s certainly extremely important career advice. I suppose it means we should all plan our finances around early retirement. Or plan on not getting older.
