    The computer was used in the design of camera lenses and the YS-11 plane, Japan’s first passenger aircraft developed after the end of World War II.

    Interesting. I would have guessed that the computer has some mission-critical use that prevented it’s replacement/update (e.g., like the use of COBOL by the finance industry). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was “just” a computer from the ’50s that someone cares for.

      I’m pleased that Fujitsu has obsolete machine maintenance as an actual job!
