The bit about Tulip Mania is fascinating but not required reading for the really good part. I submitted this for everything onwards from the heading “The Rise in Cryptocurrencies”. There’s some interesting facts about changing market share. The really interesting stuff starts under the header “The Utility of Blockchains” where the author presents the first non-criminal/anti-civilization use case I’ve seen for blockchain currencies and it’s quite compelling. In short: they can be used to incentivize the creation of distributed/federated protocols, which have been sorely unsuccessful for the last 20 years.
