We sort of have the same thing on my team, except we basically just have an entire day (Wednesday) cleared of meetings, which we call “Work Wednesday”. I find it trmendously helpful and productive.
We have something similar, except the opposite. Thursdays are the only days non-PM developers have meetings. This means most everyone can work from home the rest of the week (and most of the team does).
