WTF Apple?! They are rejecting Signal 2.0.1 because we are doing privacy-friendly bloom filter contact intersection.

We have been doing so since 1.0 and they never complained about it, now suddenly we are "violating the iOS Data Storage Guidelines".

@FredericJacobs @ioerror I know what a Bloom filter is, I know what a contact is... but what do you do?

@FredericJacobs Can you elaborate? Are you using the contact list in a way they do not allow? Using bloom filters for that purpose rocks!

.@FredericJacobs @jeremyscahill you hash the contacts on the device and then just send the hash over to your server for the matching?

.@FredericJacobs @jeremyscahill out of curiosity do you know of any other apps doing this?

@FredericJacobs we also had this issue with an update. Solved with a call... : )

@FredericJacobs @dlmetcalf grrr. Keep making noise, that sounds like whomever is rejecting you doesn't understand what you guys are doing.

@FredericJacobs wow. you should probably just upload the contacts in plain text to the server like whatsapp to avoid any privacy issues.
