Great read, I can’t agree enough. I’m not sure which category well-poisoning fits under (perhaps an angry form of resignation), but it’s amazing how quickly one person can sink an entire well-intentioned team.

Profoundly agreed, with all of this. Quick, rewarding read.

It really does take self-awareness and effort to move past these, and they are each different in the types of personal growth they demand. I’m certainly not immune to complacency or anti-authority. The latter is difficult for me, because - as the author notes - questioning authority is still really important, and, actually, failing to question it can result in resignation to failure, which is another of the harmful attitudes he mentions. :) It’s a career goal of mine to work for people who welcome criticism… which is great, but when you get to that point, it’s still important to follow directions while you’re discussing them!

If you are interested in both hacking and firefighting, I highly recommend an inspired writing titled Hackers and Firefighters.
