Core fielded an enquiry about NextBSD and whether this should be the
future direction for the whole FreeBSD project. Core’s position is that
NextBSD is an interesting project, and we regard it, like the other BSD
projects, as a potential source of good ideas. However, we currently
have no plans to adopt NextBSD as the official FreeBSD distribution.
Pretty reasonable stance on this. I think some people, including myself, were concerned this might be like systemd on Linux. Perhaps NextBSD will prove it really should be the future, in which case welcome :)
I am especially excited for the project “FreeBSD on the Acer C720 Chromebook”.
Indeed, i have nixos setup on my 720 but i’m not sold on needing most of it to be honest.
