My thought on reading the title was “of course not, who would think that?”
After reading the code, I understood what he meant – even updating non-referenced fields will cause the slowdown that he’s claiming. Which is counterintuitive.
That said, I have some reservations about his methodology. I’m going to have to do a bit of my own research.
