    It’d be nice if this article had any technical meat, instead of just statistics. Yes it’s important to keep your likely user base in mind, but trying to convince people to do so because of some moral idea that the poor will be disproportionately affected by large JavaScript bundles that fail to load… Doesn’t seem like the most useful or convincing.

    The best argument I’ve seen is that as smartphones get better, the low end gets cheaper. The next billion people with new smartphones are going to be using them from terrible connections on terrible hardware, and that’s too massive a user base to rule out. It’s a “where your users are” argument instead of “you are bad because poor people” argument
