I don’t know about the rest of the article but I quite agree with the conclusion. This is how it generally works in daemontools: the application just writes to stdout/err and you can use something like multilog to handle writing to a file. Or toss something that writes it all out to another machine, etc etc. For services, I think daemontools really hits the sweet spot on functionality and simplicity.
